Late Night Power Outage Planned on San Juan Island May 18th

San Juan Island will experience a planned power outage on Friday, May 18th beginning at 11:30 p.m. and ending by 12:00 midnight. This 30-minute outage is necessary to upgrade a piece of equipment that will improve system reliability for all San Juan Island members.

OPALCO members are responsible for their own equipment and OPALCO encourages all members to install surge protection to safeguard electronic, computer and other sensitive equipment and appliances. To prepare for the outage, members may want to turn sensitive electronics and equipment off at the surge protector, or unplug them completely. It’s a good idea to keep a flashlight handy overnight. In the morning, turn electronics and appliances back on slowly, one at a time.
