Get $$ for College! Go to a fun camp! 2022 OPALCO College Scholarship and Youth Rally: Apps Due May 6

Up to five local students will receive a $1,000 scholarship as well as the opportunity to represent our community at a co-op leadership camp (where they are could earn another $1,100 in scholarship funds). OPALCO’s Youth Rally and Scholarship Program is accepting applications from high school sophomores and juniors of OPALCO member households. It’s easy to apply: www.opalco.com/members/youth-rally-scholarships/.

The Youth Rally is a week-long leadership camp in July filled with personal growth and learning with about 100 students from eight western states at the College of Idaho – all expenses paid. Activities include a day at the water park, volleyball, bowling, social dances, team-building games and educational sessions on leadership, grassroots governance and the power industry. Additional scholarships are awarded at the Rally by the Idaho Consumer Owned Utility Association (ICUA).youth

OPALCO and the family of past OPALCO board member Nourdine Jensen established this program to educate local youth about public power and provide opportunities to explore and network outside of San Juan County. Nourdine Jensen served on the OPALCO board for 37 years, from 1965-2008.

Find the program guidelines, timeline, and application at: www.opalco.com/members/youth-rally-scholarships/. Applications are due on Friday, May 6th at 4:30 pm. Please call Krista at 360-376-3560 if you have questions. And, check out photos from past years at https://www.flickr.com/photos/opalco/ and also on Facebook @ICUAYouthRally. It’s fun!
