OUTAGE RECAP:

OPALCO was informed by our mainland provider (BPA) that there was arcing on the transmission line from PSE and they gave us 24 hours to schedule an outage, and that they would need 8 hours. PSE was able to complete the repair faster than anticipated and restoration began at around 1:15am.

Both Friday Harbor and Lopez took advantage of the outage to try and get some work done while the system is de-energized. Lopez crew performed maintenance that requires the station to be de-energized at both Decatur and Blakely and had planned to also do some work at the Lopez station. Friday Harbor performed line work out on Bailer Hill requiring a clearance at the Douglas Rd. recloser.

BPA informed us at ~12:30am that PSE was done with the work and that they could start switching the system back on. We discovered a fault on the feed in Friday Harbor. Crews restored all outages at around 11:30am (one was the result of a failed three-phase transformer at the Post Office and the other is believed to be a failed arrestor).

Wednesday May 14 at 11 am. Crews are working to get these outages restored. No estimated restoration.

8:30 am. Crews continue to work to restore meters in Friday Harbor. No estimated restoration.

7 am. There are some remaining meters without power on San Juan Island. The local crew is working to restore. No estimated time of restoration.
