OPALCO se encuentra entre las 77 empresas de servicios el\u00e9ctricos aprobadas recientemente para pr\u00e9stamos de Servicios de Servicios P\u00fablicos Rurales (RUS) del USDA. Se aprueba a OPALCO un pr\u00e9stamo de $17.1M para avanzar con el reemplazo del cable submarino del enlace L\u00f3pez a San Juan, seg\u00fan lo previsto en nuestros planes de trabajo de largo plazo y de construcci\u00f3n. El monto del pr\u00e9stamo tambi\u00e9n incluye otros proyectos de mejora de la transmisi\u00f3n. Los fondos del pr\u00e9stamo no se otorgan por adelantado, sino que funcionan como una l\u00ednea de cr\u00e9dito, que se reembolsa a medida que avanza el proyecto y seg\u00fan lo certificado por RUS.<\/p>\n

El Secretario de Agricultura de Estados Unidos, Tom Vilsack, anunci\u00f3 hoy cerca de $2.300 millones en pr\u00e9stamos para construir y mejorar la infraestructura el\u00e9ctrica rural en 31 estados. La financiaci\u00f3n se proporciona a trav\u00e9s del Programa El\u00e9ctrico de Desarrollo Rural del USDA, que otorga pr\u00e9stamos y garant\u00edas de pr\u00e9stamos a asociaciones cooperativas y sin fines de lucro. Desde 2009, el USDA ha financiado $34 mil millones en pr\u00e9stamos el\u00e9ctricos y m\u00e1s de $1 mil millones para tecnolog\u00edas de redes inteligentes.<\/p>\n
