Busque estos art\u00edculos \u201celectrizantes\u201d con regularidad en nuestros peri\u00f3dicos locales y en www.opalco.com\/news.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Nuestra Cooperativa ha construido una s\u00f3lida columna vertebral de control de red que es el n\u00facleo de nuestro sistema de distribuci\u00f3n el\u00e9ctrica. La red troncal es principalmente una red de fibra \u00f3ptica, pero con la reciente compra de una frecuencia con licencia de 700 MHz, comenzar\u00e1 a llegar m\u00e1s lejos tambi\u00e9n con un componente inal\u00e1mbrico. Todos nuestros miembros propietarios han compartido el costo de la red troncal desde 1999, y todos nos beneficiamos de los ahorros y eficiencias que genera para nuestro sistema. Este verano comenzaron las obras de una nueva fase de ampliaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Con esta red, monitoreamos y controlamos de forma remota nuestro sistema de distribuci\u00f3n el\u00e9ctrica, leemos medidores autom\u00e1ticamente, identificamos fallas y redirigimos la energ\u00eda para minimizar el tiempo de corte, y mantenemos nuestros propios sistemas de comunicaci\u00f3n de datos y tel\u00e9fono para la administraci\u00f3n de la Cooperativa.<\/p>\n<p>A trav\u00e9s de la divisi\u00f3n Island Network de OPALCO, instituciones p\u00fablicas como escuelas, centros m\u00e9dicos, servicios de emergencia, oficinas del condado y bibliotecas, as\u00ed como un n\u00famero creciente de empresas y algunos individuos, est\u00e1n conectadas a la misma columna vertebral como una plataforma para servicios de Internet. Todas las conexiones para servicios de Internet son pagadas por el usuario final.<\/p>\n<p>A finales de 2013, el backbone de control de la red representa $3,45 millones en el balance de OPALCO.
