El dinero que OPALCO recauda en facturas se destina principalmente al costo de la energ\u00eda, la mano de obra para entregar energ\u00eda y administrar el sistema y proyectos de capital. Presupuestamos los gastos necesarios y luego planificamos las tarifas para recaudar suficientes ingresos para cubrir los gastos, m\u00e1s un peque\u00f1o margen. Luego, el margen se devuelve a los miembros en forma de cr\u00e9ditos de capital (despu\u00e9s de 25 a\u00f1os).<\/li>\n<li>OPALCO compra energ\u00eda a Pacific Northwest Generating Cooperative (PNGC). La energ\u00eda es generada por Bonneville Power Administration (BPA). BPA ha pronosticado aumentos de 5-7% en el costo de la energ\u00eda cada a\u00f1o. Los proyectos de capital recientes incluyen:\n<ul>\n<li>$15 millones de cable submarino<\/li>\n<li>Modernizaci\u00f3n de la red para la automatizaci\u00f3n de sistemas y en preparaci\u00f3n para la integraci\u00f3n de energ\u00edas renovables<\/li>\n<li>Endurecimiento de tormentas: reemplazo de cables subterr\u00e1neos viejos para reducir los cortes de energ\u00eda<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>El costo de la energ\u00eda en las comunidades rurales es mayor porque hay menos personas por milla de l\u00ednea el\u00e9ctrica para compartir el costo del servicio. Como organizaci\u00f3n cooperativa y sin fines de lucro, mantenemos los costos lo m\u00e1s bajos posible y distribuimos los gastos de manera uniforme y justa entre todos los miembros.<\/li>\n<li>El clima genera fluctuaciones en el consumo de energ\u00eda y en los ingresos recaudados. Para proteger a los socios y a la Cooperativa de grandes ajustes de fin de a\u00f1o, OPALCO implement\u00f3 un Ajuste del Cargo por Energ\u00eda (ECA) en 2019.
