Debemos construir nuestros propios recursos para el poder.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>En 2019, el estado de Washington aprob\u00f3 la Ley de Transformaci\u00f3n de Energ\u00eda Limpia (CETA), que exige la interrupci\u00f3n de los combustibles f\u00f3siles en el suministro el\u00e9ctrico regional. El mundo est\u00e1 empezando a tomar en serio el impacto clim\u00e1tico y exigir acciones por parte de los l\u00edderes. La legislaci\u00f3n sobre carbono es solo el comienzo de lo que esperamos sea un flujo constante de legislaci\u00f3n relacionada con revertir el impacto clim\u00e1tico.<\/li>\n<li>Se espera que el noroeste del Pac\u00edfico experimente cambios significativos en su combinaci\u00f3n de recursos de generaci\u00f3n el\u00e9ctrica durante los pr\u00f3ximos 30 a\u00f1os debido a cambios econ\u00f3micos y pol\u00edticos. Esto incluye el retiro de 35 billones de vatios-hora por a\u00f1o de plantas de carb\u00f3n y un aumento de la generaci\u00f3n e\u00f3lica y solar. Los costos de la energ\u00eda aumentar\u00e1n durante esta importante transici\u00f3n hacia una energ\u00eda baja en carbono.<\/li>\n<li>La eliminaci\u00f3n de la generaci\u00f3n de carb\u00f3n reduce la capacidad regional y la capacidad de manejar eventos extremos de demanda de energ\u00eda (por ejemplo, olas de fr\u00edo). Incluso sin el desmantelamiento de las plantas de carb\u00f3n exigido por el CETA, los pron\u00f3sticos proyectan un d\u00e9ficit de capacidad regional ya en 2021 (posibles apagones).<\/li>\n<li>Cuando el viento no sopla y el sol no brilla, necesitamos una fuente de energ\u00eda firme y confiable. Nuestro sistema hidroel\u00e9ctrico regional proporciona la fuente m\u00e1s limpia, confiable y asequible de energ\u00eda firme disponible; otras opciones como el gas natural y la energ\u00eda nuclear son problem\u00e1ticas.<\/li>\n<li>A pesar de los avances tecnol\u00f3gicos, la energ\u00eda e\u00f3lica y solar por s\u00ed solas no son una soluci\u00f3n viable para el noroeste del Pac\u00edfico. Las limitaciones incluyen costo, intermitencia, red de transmisi\u00f3n, disponibilidad 24 horas al d\u00eda, 7 d\u00edas a la semana y terreno adecuado para el emplazamiento.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>OPALCO tiene un plan.<\/strong> Nuestro Plan Integrado de Recursos 2020 se centra en construir nuestro suministro de energ\u00eda local y posicionar a nuestras comunidades insulares para una mayor resiliencia energ\u00e9tica local para protegernos de cortes cada vez m\u00e1s probables en el continente. El plan incluye:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conservaci\u00f3n de energ\u00eda y mayor participaci\u00f3n de los miembros en c\u00f3mo (y cu\u00e1ndo) se utiliza la energ\u00eda.<\/li>\n<li>Desarrollar recursos renovables locales junto con proyectos de almacenamiento de energ\u00eda (bater\u00edas y otras tecnolog\u00edas futuras) para aumentar la resiliencia local y disminuir la dependencia del continente.<\/li>\n<li>Pasar a la electricidad para el transporte: autom\u00f3viles personales, autobuses escolares y transbordadores h\u00edbridos el\u00e9ctricos; y calefacci\u00f3n. Dile adi\u00f3s a los combustibles f\u00f3siles. Saluda a las facturas TOTALES de energ\u00eda m\u00e1s bajas, gracias al costo mucho menor de conducir y calentar con electricidad.<\/li>\n<li>Uso racional de los recursos continentales. Nuestro objetivo es proporcionar hasta ~30% de nuestra energ\u00eda a partir de generaci\u00f3n local.
