El equipo de corte de OPALCO, en conjunto con BPA, determin\u00f3 que hab\u00eda una falla en el sistema de alto voltaje (69 kV) de BPA en Decatur que alimenta estas \u00e1reas.<\/p>\n<p>El equipo de corte dise\u00f1\u00f3 r\u00e1pidamente un plan para cambiar toda la energ\u00eda de las l\u00edneas con fallas a un cable BPA redundante de 115 kV. Los equipos estaban en el campo en la subestaci\u00f3n BPA en L\u00f3pez y en m\u00faltiples ubicaciones en Orcas para operar interruptores para una transici\u00f3n sin problemas a la alimentaci\u00f3n redundante.<\/p>\n<p>Aproximadamente a las 11:00 p. m., el equipo de corte comenz\u00f3 a restaurar la energ\u00eda en fases en un esfuerzo por proteger el sistema de sobrecargas. A las 12 de la noche, todos menos Decatur ten\u00edan energ\u00eda nuevamente. Una vez que se complet\u00f3 el cambio, y en comunicaci\u00f3n con BPA, un equipo de L\u00f3pez tom\u00f3 un barco de trabajo a Decatur para finalizar la restauraci\u00f3n a las 12:59 a.m. Mientras estaban en Decatur, los equipos de OPALCO patrullaron las l\u00edneas de BPA en un intento de identificar al culpable.<\/p>\n<p>Los equipos regresaron esta ma\u00f1ana para confirmar que, a la luz del d\u00eda, un \u00e1rbol fuera del derecho de paso hab\u00eda ca\u00eddo sobre las l\u00edneas a\u00e9reas. El equipo de corte comunic\u00f3 sus hallazgos a BPA para que puedan comenzar la restauraci\u00f3n de la l\u00ednea de 69 kV a Decatur y L\u00f3pez.
