Grandes vientos azotaron las islas el martes 23 de mayotercero<\/sup> lo que provoc\u00f3 una serie de cortes de energ\u00eda en las islas. El mayor corte ocurri\u00f3 en la Isla San Juan cuando un \u00e1rbol fue volado hacia las l\u00edneas de transmisi\u00f3n cerca de la subestaci\u00f3n de Pear Point, donde la energ\u00eda de OPALCO llega a la costa desde el cable submarino que suministra energ\u00eda desde el continente. Unos 6.000 miembros se vieron afectados. Los equipos de l\u00ednea de OPALCO tuvieron el suministro el\u00e9ctrico en menos de tres horas.<\/p>\n

Con esta informaci\u00f3n, el personal de OPALCO actualiza Twitter (@OrcasPower) y Facebook (Orcas Power & Light) al menos cada hora a medida que hay nueva informaci\u00f3n disponible, esencialmente envi\u00e1ndola a los miembros que est\u00e1n siguiendo la interrupci\u00f3n.
