About 60 members and friends gathered at the San Juan Yacht
Club on Saturday, September 14th. Many, including board members, expressed their
gratitude and respect for Doug's contribution to the members in his 14 years at
the helm at OPALCO. Representatives from Bonneville Power Authority (BPA) presented
Doug with a plaque, expressing appreciation for many years of working together on
various power and utility related issues in the state.
Of course, there were jokes and games led by board members Bob
Myhr and Alice Cook, where participants from the audience took turns responding
to the chant, "what is Doug going to do?" with short replies and then presenting
Doug with a small present.
Randy Cornelius, the new General Manager, thanked Doug for leaving
him a cooperative that is well run and has many dedicated staff. As President Alice
Cook said, “The Board of Directors values the 14 years that Doug has given to OPALCO
and its membership, we will miss working with him and wish him well in his retirement".
