Green Power An easy way to help the environment Orcas Power & Light Cooperative (OPALCO) is committed to protecting our quality of life in the San Juan Islands. For a non-profit electric utility, this meant becoming the first cooperative in the state to sell “Green Power” to its members. As of March 2008 OPALCO has 506 members purchasing 1073 100 kWh blocks of environmentally-friendly power. We also have 45 members that green up all of their usage. In March, they bought 32,585 kWh .
