The Sutton Family
Chris Sutton grew up on Orcas Island, graduating from Orcas High School before going off island to college, a career in the dot.com world, marriage and family. In 2007, he brought his wife, Kate Long, and two children, Arla (6) and Sam (3) back to the island. Working with OPALCO’s “Go Green” net-metering program, builder Ben Trogdon and solar specialist Eric Youngren, the Suttons built a super energy efficient home near Olga featuring photo-voltaics (PV), solar hot water heating and an orientation that makes the most of their south-facing exposure.
